How To Not Have A Crappy Company Party - Part 1 Hypnotist Entertainment

I got a couple of emails recently wondering if I was available to entertain at company holiday parties. Usually I am. If the client books me early enough, (before my schedule fills up) and is willing to budget for quality entertainment.

The first email I got was from someone looking for a comedy hypnotist this weekend. Now, booking quality entertainment a week in advance may work during a slow season like October, but not during one of corporate entertainment’s busiest seasons; the holidays. If you’re in charge of hiring entertainment for your company party, I’d advise you to book your entertainer(s) 3 or 4 months in advance. You’ll be able to scoop up the good ones while they’re still available, and possibly save money on their travel expenses by booking flights and hotel rooms early.

The second email was from a very nice guy at a well-known company who just didn’t have the budget to hire me. A majority of his money was spent on the venue and the menu. Of course you want the digs and the grub to be above average, but say you go to a dinner theater. Do you remember the theater and the food? Not usually. You remember the entertainment. So wouldn’t it be sagacious to spend a little more scratch on the thing your employees will remember?

Now, I realize most companies have planned (or have already had) their holiday or end of year or whatever they’re calling it party by now. But if you somehow find yourself on your company’s party planning committee next year, please remember; book early and budget appropriately.

You may be the one who keeps next year’s party from being crappy.

See you down the hypnosis highway!
